The Problem:
A dominant team member can cause others to withdraw and their voices to be lost.
The Solution:
This issue needs to be addressed in a team meeting.
Ideally, the team leader should ensure that everyone in the team has a voice and that all agree on team directions. They should make sure everyone has their say by asking each person explicitly what their views are.
It's more difficult when the dominating team member is the leader.
In this case, other team members will need to step up and raise the issue respectfully either at a team meeting or in a one-on-one discussion. Resolution may not be easy but avoiding the issue will not make it go away.
